Who is Tauri33?

I am an average guy; husband and father of 2 boys, who also has a strong passion for video gaming.  I have been gaming in one fashion or another since I was a boy.  And with my passion for video gaming, comes my attempt to share this passion with others by creating this blog.

I don’t consider myself a real hard-core gamer; more of a recreational gamer.  I like to kick back after a long day and try to escape the toils and troubles of the day, maybe either catch up on some television programs I’ve recorded, or play video games (assuming the family lets me).  I have a wife & 2 boys (ages 9 & 3), and when I’m not at work, at home, they take up a lot of my time.  But I do find time to play some of these games with my 9-year-old, and we both like to go back & forth and help each other out.  At home, we have 2 Xbox 360′s (1 that has a Kinect sensor attached to it), a PlayStation 3, a PlayStation 2, a Nintendo Wii, a Sony PSP, a Nintendo DS, and a Nintendo DSi.  Think we have our basics covered?

My favorite types of video games would have to be the RPGs (Role Playing Games).  But I also like a lot of the Action/Adventure, Simulation, & Family titles.  I’m not so much a fan of the Sports titles, so I don’t know if you’ll find a whole lot of posts relating to sports-related games here.  I don’t know; haven’t quite decided.  I think the reason I enjoy the RPGs so much is because of the puzzles or quests that you have “think” your way through & solve to further along the main storyline.  There’s nothing wrong with a good mindless shoot ‘em up here and there, but I like something that challenges the brain a little.

When I am able to post to my blog, I usually do so while at work.  I work alongside with my parents at a store we own, so I’m lucky that I can find some flexibility at work to spend some time to work on my blog posts, but at the same token, that is also why I have such few posts to this as of this date I’m writing this (only about 50 posts since starting this blog back at the beginning of this year [2012]).

I have a wide variety of interests; I almost like to consider myself something of a Renaissance-type.  With a passion for video games, it may be no surprise that I also enjoy a lot of Sci-fi.  I used to enjoy Star Trek a great deal, but over the past several years, I have grown somewhat *yawn* over it.  I would say my favorite Sci-fi series of all time was the original Stargate series; Stargate SG-1.  I am also very interested in history & technology.  I’ll find myself watching a lot of programs of interest on the History & Discovery Channels.  Two of my favorite programs on these networks include Ancient Aliens: The Series & Brad Meltzer’s Decoded.  I also have many books (most of which I will honestly admit I have not read in their entirety, if at all) on a wide range of subjects, from science to unexplained phenomena, to fiction and reference books.

My outdoor interests (oh yes, I actually do like to do something outside) include swimming & taking walks, especially nature walks on a trail.  But nothing beats going out and spending time with my boys.  Unfortunately, what I can do physically is kind of limited having undergone back surgery about 2 years ago.  Regardless, I try to do what I can to be able to have that quality time with the two of them.
