Unlocking the Special Suits in The Amazing Spider-Man

There have been numerous Spider-Man games released for multiple gaming platforms, and I have a chance to play most all of them except for Spider-Man: Edge of Time.  Most recently, I have acquired a copy of the new The Amazing Spider-Man game (for the Xbox 360), and in a matter of a few days (of course not playing it non-stop), have already completed the game.  And despite having completed the main story so relative quickly, it does remain to be one of the better Spider-Man games I have played (my son who is 9 also agrees).

One of the elements of the game that my son was excited about was the different Spider suits that can be unlocked in the game.  This article will explain how to unlock the various suits in the game.

Once you have unlocked the camera, disconnect your system from the internet, and set your system clock to December 23, 2012 or later. Then, go to one of the indicated locations and take a picture of the hidden Spider-Man emblem to unlock the corresponding suit at Peter’s apartment:

Big Time Costume

In Times Square, search behind the red bleachers, on the glass, to find the hidden Spider-Man emblem.

Black Suit (Sam Raimi Trilogy)

To the left of the main Oscorp building downtown, look under the Gazebo in the narrow park near the Daily Bugle to find the hidden Spider-Man emblem.

Spider-Man, are you fighting Rhino or showing him your dance moves?

Future Foundation Costume

One block right of the north bridge (near the Oscorp Lab along New York’s north side), search a small alley behind the gas station/store to find the hidden Spider-Man emblem.

Negative Zone Costume

Search the top of the Beenox building (second building in from the Brooklyn Bridge) to find the hidden Spider-Man emblem.

Scarlet Spider (2012) Suit

Locate the fountain near the middle of Central Park.  Go north until you reach the middle bridge (directly at the center of Central Park).  On the right side of the bridge is a red Spider-Man emblem.

50th Anniversary Party Hat

Disconnect your system from the internet & set your system clock to anytime in August 2012.  This will unlock the Spider-Man 50th Anniversary Party Hat at Peter’s apartment.

Black Suit

Successfully complete the game with a 100% completion.

Classic Suit

Register any of the game’s DLC (including any pre-order codes that may have been received).  This will unlock the Classic Suit in Peter’s apartment.

Cross Species Costume

Successfully complete the game on any difficulty setting to unlock.

Original Suit (no belt)

When the game starts, go to Peter’s apartment and view the alternate costumes.  The Original Suit will already be in the closet.

This is just one set of hints & cheats for The Amazing Spider-Man game, but there are more to come.  Follow the Blog to stay updated.

If you haven’t tried it yet already, I do recommend giving The Amazing Spider-Man a play.  The 3D graphics and fluidity of motion is really well done (especially when web swinging through the streets of New York).  You also get the same over confident, quippy old sense of humor you’d expect from Spider-Man.  There is also a good balance with the combat, mixing in elements of stealth attacks.  The only main negative aspect of the game is that it is relatively easy (even with the boss challenges) compared to some of the other Spider-Man titles that have been released and that the missions done inside are not as fun (in my opinion) as the ones done outside.  But overall, I still give this game high marks.
